Starting 2015 with My New Makeup Babies.
The last month of 2014 got me shopping for makeup like crazy! I swear, almost everything was 50% off and that's what got me spending for these babies. Now, I'm not gonna be some makeup guru from now on because I am definitely a noob when it comes to putting on makeup. However, I will be posting occasional ootd posts with makeup on. What got me to this craze are the vloggers my sister Luisa has been showing me. They have tons of how-to videos that caught my attention and got me wondering about my own beauty regimen and makeup kit. That's why I amped up my super old (EWWW) makeup kit and bought several new ones. They were on sale anyway. ;)
My simple beauty loot, around Php 400 from Watsons.
I love Watsons for carrying everything I need when it comes to beauty. I have combination moily and very sensitive skin. I get pimples right away when a certain product doesn't suit me. However, these products have definitely made my skin better, slowly but surely. Special Mention to Quick FX. I think it's a Korean brand and sadly it only comes in these small sizes. However, that did not stop me from repurchasing them because they have worked perfectly with treating my pimples, lightening up those under eye circles and moisturizing my skin.
For the face, I opted for cheap ones from Maybelline, Shawii and E.L.F
Maybelline Cheeky Glow Fresh Coral is very pigmented and I got in on sale. HAHAHA I think Maybelline is a really good product for newbies and pros alike. They've really done a good job in sorting out there formulas. I've a watched a few pro makeup artists and I've seen them recommend Maybelline products left and right. So, yes, go buy 'em! One tip though, make sure you test everything out on your skin first to know if it suits you best. Same applies with concealers and pressed powders. Buy a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your skin and for powders/ foundations , remember to buy ones that are hypoallergenic and are perfectly suited to your skin tone.
Lip products from wet n' wild, NYX, Revlon and lip brush from Marionnaud.
I've been obsessed with dark lippies ever since they became a thing last year. I think they're here to stay. At least for me. I first encountered the dark lips trend when we had a dance gig with our alumni group last year. Ever since that day, I loved them and wore them whenever a dance gig arose or a special occasion came up. I was always borrowing lipsticks from friends and I got tired it so I bought my own. I have full and plump lips and it's a bit of a challenge to wear dark lips since it catches attention but I've managed to deal with the stares. I've learned that the best way to wear dark lips is to just work it! Anyway, this might not be good shades to start with if you're a first timer, but if you feel a bit adventurous , go ahead and buy any shade you feel like!
Makeup set from Clinique with mascara, blush and eyeshadow.
The blush and eyeshadow palette's pretty darn good on me. (chos) I can't say the same for the mascara. It clumps and feels heavy on my lashes. But, I still value this set since it was gift and the blush is perfect! I wear this shade on dates and when I'm with my family. It looks well on Morena skin. (But I still covet that Sleek blush from luxola.com. Maybe when I'm "pro" enough. haha) I recommend buying a makeup sets from brands that you trust. Since it will be a one time big time thing, make sure ALL the products in it are products that you will actually use. It's also good first timers like me, so you get overwhelmed which is which.
Eyelash curlers from Clinique and E.L.F., Mascara from Maybelline
I have long lashes so I only need a volumizing mascara and a curler to make them noticeable. (Thank you parents for long lashes) The curler from CLinique came with the makeup set gift above. It's good but not as good as elf's. A few curls from elf and a whip of mascara from Maybelline and I'm good to go! I rarely wear eyeliner and eyeshadow, only on special occasions. So I guess these are good enough for my starter kit.
I guess that sums it all up! I have yet to have my brows fixed and to find the right foundation, if you have suggestions for them, lemme know as well! :) Anyway, one of the reasons that I suddenly "splurged" on makeup is because I just finished college! I'm one the first few students who are "decemberians" (instead of an "octoberian", since U.P. Diliman shifted their academic calendar already) and yes, I am employed! WOOHOO. I am so excited to earn and save money (no joke, I really want to save money) . I hope my first employment year will be good to me! :)
Do you have any more to products for me add in my starter kit? Tell me in the comments below! :)
